On May 12, 2017, Mr. Barnes conducted his first major public composition at Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing, NJ.
In 2016, Mr. Barnes began working on a concert band composition that was commissioned by the Oakcrest High School Director of Bands, Richard Schwartz. The piece, titled Into the Wilderness: From Dusk 'til Dawn, ushers listeners through the maze of emotions associated with journeys through literal and figurative wilderness. Robert will conducted the piece in the May 12, 2017 concert while the Band Director performed as the lead trumpet and soloist.
